The same report says fully AI tracks earn only 1 to 3% of total streams, and that 85% of the streams they did get in 2025 were flagged as fraudulent and demonetized. Suno alone reported passing 100 million users, with about 2 million paying, as of February 2026 (Music Ally, July 23, 2026).

Read those numbers together and the strategy writes itself. Generating a song is no longer scarce; making one person stop scrolling for it is. Video is where that fight happens: video streaming carried 31% of weekly music listening hours in IFPI's most recent global listener study, essentially tied with audio streaming's 32% (IFPI, Engaging with Music 2023). Check your Suno plan before you invest anything
Suno's Free tier is explicitly non-commercial: outputs are for personal use, with attribution to Suno. The Pro plan ($8/month) and Premier plan ($24/month) include commercial-use rights for songs made while subscribed, and Suno's terms assign ownership of those outputs to you (Suno pricing and terms of service, terms last updated March 26, 2026). Subscription prices change often, so confirm the current tiers on Suno's page before you pay for anything. Can you make a lyric video for a Udio song?
Right now, mostly no, and it isn't the video tools' fault. Udio settled with Universal Music Group on October 29, 2025 and is rebuilding as a licensed platform (UMG/Udio joint announcement). During the transition, Udio's own help center states that downloading of audio, video, and stems has been disabled (Udio Help Center, published February 17, 2026, still in effect when we checked on July 27, 2026).
Two exceptions. Tracks you downloaded before the freeze are on your drive and work like any audio file. And Udio briefly reopened downloads for 48 hours in early November 2025. Press coverage described the window as a response to user backlash, and reported that songs pulled during it stayed under the old ownership terms (Digital Music News, October 31, 2025). If your catalog lived only inside Udio and you missed that window, you're waiting on the relaunch like everyone else; as of this writing the new platform hasn't launched.
Who can monetize an AI song? Check your plan first
On Suno, checked July 27, 2026: Free tier output is licensed for personal, non-commercial use with attribution. Pro and Premier include commercial-use rights for songs made while subscribed. Whether older free-tier songs gain rights when you upgrade is governed by Suno's terms, so read them before monetizing a back catalog. One more caveat straight from those terms: Suno makes no warranty that any copyright vests in AI output at all. That isn't a gotcha; purely AI-generated works have an unsettled copyright status in most countries. Not legal advice, and worth a lawyer's hour if real money is at stake.
Context worth having before you build a channel on AI songs: the major-label lawsuits aren't finished. Warner settled with Suno in November 2025, while Universal's and Sony's cases were still active as of late July 2026 (Music Ally, July 23, 2026). Nothing there changes what your plan allows today; it's context for how fast these rules can move, and one more argument for keeping local copies.
